Behavior

Fusion Pet Retreat’s training center has a wide range of class offerings to fit many dogs’ needs. Each class is lead by an experienced instructor, dedicated to personal growth and continuing education in the field. We focus on a positive and progressive approach to dog training and behavior.

All classes are hosted in the comfort of a climate-controlled 11,000 sq. ft. indoor facility.

Upcoming Behavior Classes

Beginning Reactive Class

Length: 6 – 1 hour lessons
Cost: $225

Does your dog bark, lunge and behave inappropriately around other dogs? Do they simply become too excited to contain themselves? Do you feel like you have been walking a modern-day Cujo when your dogs sees other dogs on-leash?

 

 

Advanced Reactive Class

Length: 6 – 1 hour lessons
Cost: $225

This 6-week class is for students that have completed Beginning Reactive with us and would like to continue working on their dogs reactivity in more challenging and advanced situations.

Reactive Get Sniffy With It

Length: 3 – 1 hour lessons
Cost: $100
Harness the power of the canine nose in a fun, non-competitive and reactive-dog friendly environment! This three week long Reactive Get Sniffy With It class is limited to a maximum of four dogs and is designed with the special needs of leash-reactive dogs in mind. This class is a great way to utilize your dog’s primary sense- smell! In this just-for-fun class your dog will learn new sniffing games- and you will learn new ways to burn off your dogs extra mental energy. This class is not formatted for those with the intention to compete.

Who is this class best suited for?
Individuals with little interest in competing in Canine Nosework and just want to give it a try for fun. (Note: this class can still benefit those that are interested to compete “someday” but rather want to see how their dog enjoys sniffy-sports first.  

What this class will not cover:
This class will not cover any amount of behavior modification for leash-reactivity. 

Requirements: 
-Dog must have completed Beginning Reactive or equivalent class.
– Dogs must not be human-aggressive or human-reactive. Please email our Training Director Megan Janning CPDT-KA at megan@fusionpetretreat.com if you have questions about if your dog is appropriate for this class. 
– Dogs must remain on-leash while on Fusion property. Handlers (person holding the leash) must be at least 16 years old and physically capable of 
being in full-control of their dog at all times.

 

 

Reactive FUNgility

Length: 4 – 1 hour lessons
Cost: $125
Experience all of the FUN of agility in a non-competitive and reactive-dog friendly environment! This four week long Reactive FUNgility class is limited to a maximum of four dogs and is designed with the special needs of leash-reactive dogs in mind. This class is great for the average reactive-dog owner and dogs that are new to the sport of Agility that are trying to decide if this is the sport for them. This class is not formatted for those with the intention to compete.

Who is this class best suited for?
Individuals with little to no interest in competing in agility and just want to give it a try or run for fun. Dogs that need to improve their confidence in new environments. (ie: dogs that may be stressed in a class with too much criteria). 

What this class will not cover:
This class will not cover any amount of behavior modification for leash-reactivity. 

Requirements: 
– Dog must have completed Beginning Reactive or equivalent class.
– Dogs must be at least 1 year of age.
– Dogs must not be highly sound-sensitive to the sounds of other dogs moving around out-of-sign
– Dogs must not be human-aggressive or human-reactive. Please email our Training Director Megan Janning CPDT-KA at megan@fusionpetretreat.com if you have questions about if your dog is appropriate for this class. 
– Dogs must remain on-leash while on Fusion property. Handlers (person holding the leash) must be at least 16 years old and physically capable of

Timera Cyr CPDT-KA

Puppy and Obedience Instructor

 Science, animal behavior and training have been my passions since childhood.  I love helping people develop deeper connections with their dogs through better communication and understanding. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats named Adenine, Cytosine, Thymine and Guanine. They are named after the DNA base pairs. 

Megan Janning – CPDT-KA

TRAINING DIRECTOR

Animal behavior and training has been both my passion and my career for over a decade. I’ve had the opportunity to work professionally with a variety of species and breeds on a significant range of complex behavior issues and training. With my own dogs- I enjoy competing in Conformation,  LGRA (straight racing), ASFA (lure coursing) and NOTRA(oval racing) and taking Nosework and Agility classes.
